annual physical

annual physicals for the kids just reminds me of how fast they are growing. i used to be carrying my babies to these appointments. now they are just smelly kids from school walking next to me.

i've been reminding them that their flu shot was coming. it was more for malia since she is terrified of shots. i would rather have her going in knowing she's going to get one instead of her being surprised and making a scene at the office.

after they both completed their vitals, vision test, and hearing test, micah had to get his finger pricked to check his iron level. he didn't even flinch. malia was the one covering her eyes and whimpering and she wasn't even tested for that.

the doctor came in and handed me their results. my little malia is seriously tiny. dr garcia said we need to put a layer of fat on her. but otherwise everything looks good.

after they checked out okay, it was time for shots. micah had to get a hepatitis A shot in addition to the flu shot. he volunteered to go first. he had a sad face after the 2nd shot, but no tears. malia was already crying after micah was done. i had to hold her down. i had hoped to get a picture of her to show her how she was, but no luck. i should have had micah take the picture.

100 days of kindergarten

for micah's 100 days of kinder project, we turned sticky notes into windows for spiderman. had to get spidey in there since he's such a fan.

mlk holiday

three day weekend! such a nice break even though we just got done with winter vacation. went to a baptism on saturday, sunday was rest and errands day, and today was play day. i already had the park and a picnic in mind. but i asked the kids what they wanted to do anyway, and sure enough, they said picnic in the park.

we had a lot of fun playing frisbee, flying a kite, and just running around. it was a beautiful day.

amp night

it was malia's 4th grade amp night (art, music & PE). last year, malia won 1st place out of her class and the entire 3rd grade for her art. this year, her bff elizabeth won 1st place in their class. it was cute though, because a lot of malia's friends kept coming up to me and telling me that malia "draws so good."

for music, the 4th graders played recorders. i couldn't tell you what song it was, but it was cute.

student of the month

micah received his first award today, student of the month. i think he was more excited to get a balloon and goodies than to get the actual award. i couldn't make it to the awards ceremony, so roel texted me a picture of him. it's a fake smile, but i'll take it. love his round face.

merida for a day

had an archery lesson with malia today. i bought it as a groupon a few months ago but couldn't use it until malia turned 9, as it was one of the rules.

she is left eye dominant and i am right, so it was cool to shoot facing each other.

it was SO much fun. she was a little discouraged at first when her arrows would hit the ground, but she got the hang of it and started hitting the target at almost every round. she even got it in the yellow 3 times.

waiting

blogger updated their app finally. i was waiting for it, it's a little better but not great. but at least now i can do some blogging from my phone. now i'll wait for the next update that will be more user friendly with the pictures.

but now i can blog about any little thing. like waiting for malia to get out of school choir. waiting here in the car with the boy where it's warm.

movie time

took a half day, so we went to watch rise of the guardians. loved it. the kids got scared at some of the bad guy parts but really liked the movie. lia kept asking me if i believed in santa and the tooth fairy after.

can't wait for Christmas

literally, micah can't wait. the neighbors had their tree up last week and so he's been asking me every day to put ours up. so we put it up yesterday. i didn't mind considering this is most likely our last Christmas in this house.

there he is in his boxers putting on the ornaments. he did most of them. and even though it hurts me to look at some of them all bunched up, i didn't move them. ok maybe i moved 5, but i left the rest. it makes me smile at the same time it hurts. malia was busy watching her shows so she was back and forth.

we wrapped some presents tonight to put under the tree. they wrapped a couple, wrote labels, then wrapped each other. loving Christmas already.

Santa lists

time to write out the lists for Santa.

malia's list: a bell from Santa's sleigh, panda necklace, panda toy, american girl doll bed and accessories, citrine geode.

micah's list: toy sword, a real shield, fake poop, and a big surprise.

goodness, my son is such a boy, a gross boy. and I had to ask malia what a geode was.
