mlk holiday

three day weekend! such a nice break even though we just got done with winter vacation. went to a baptism on saturday, sunday was rest and errands day, and today was play day. i already had the park and a picnic in mind. but i asked the kids what they wanted to do anyway, and sure enough, they said picnic in the park.

we had a lot of fun playing frisbee, flying a kite, and just running around. it was a beautiful day.

amp night

it was malia's 4th grade amp night (art, music & PE). last year, malia won 1st place out of her class and the entire 3rd grade for her art. this year, her bff elizabeth won 1st place in their class. it was cute though, because a lot of malia's friends kept coming up to me and telling me that malia "draws so good."

for music, the 4th graders played recorders. i couldn't tell you what song it was, but it was cute.

student of the month

micah received his first award today, student of the month. i think he was more excited to get a balloon and goodies than to get the actual award. i couldn't make it to the awards ceremony, so roel texted me a picture of him. it's a fake smile, but i'll take it. love his round face.

merida for a day

had an archery lesson with malia today. i bought it as a groupon a few months ago but couldn't use it until malia turned 9, as it was one of the rules.

she is left eye dominant and i am right, so it was cool to shoot facing each other.

it was SO much fun. she was a little discouraged at first when her arrows would hit the ground, but she got the hang of it and started hitting the target at almost every round. she even got it in the yellow 3 times.

waiting

blogger updated their app finally. i was waiting for it, it's a little better but not great. but at least now i can do some blogging from my phone. now i'll wait for the next update that will be more user friendly with the pictures.

but now i can blog about any little thing. like waiting for malia to get out of school choir. waiting here in the car with the boy where it's warm.

movie time

took a half day, so we went to watch rise of the guardians. loved it. the kids got scared at some of the bad guy parts but really liked the movie. lia kept asking me if i believed in santa and the tooth fairy after.

can't wait for Christmas

literally, micah can't wait. the neighbors had their tree up last week and so he's been asking me every day to put ours up. so we put it up yesterday. i didn't mind considering this is most likely our last Christmas in this house.

there he is in his boxers putting on the ornaments. he did most of them. and even though it hurts me to look at some of them all bunched up, i didn't move them. ok maybe i moved 5, but i left the rest. it makes me smile at the same time it hurts. malia was busy watching her shows so she was back and forth.

we wrapped some presents tonight to put under the tree. they wrapped a couple, wrote labels, then wrapped each other. loving Christmas already.

Santa lists

time to write out the lists for Santa.

malia's list: a bell from Santa's sleigh, panda necklace, panda toy, american girl doll bed and accessories, citrine geode.

micah's list: toy sword, a real shield, fake poop, and a big surprise.

goodness, my son is such a boy, a gross boy. and I had to ask malia what a geode was.

they also played games and got inflatable toys. m&m got some big guitars which they have been wanting for a while.

tough day for the boy

just last week, i told micah's allergist that he was possibly growing out of his asthma and his primary doctor wanted him to stop all his meds.

well, yesterday his coughing got worse and his breathing became faster. at 4 this morning, i decided it was time to go to the ER.

it was his first visit to the ER for asthma, we usually make it to urgent care. when the lady at the registration desk asked micah how he was doing, he said,"i'm good." too funny, made me look like a paranoid mom bringing her kid in for no apparent reason.

but when they took his vitals and his oxygen level was a little low at 93%, they took him back right away and gave him 3 breathing treatments and steroids. he's always a good patient. he watched tv during treatment.

we got home almost 3 hours later and slept.

then it was time for his allergy appt, for testing. he got poked 40 times in his back to test for food and airborne allergies. he did great for the first 30. it was the last 10 that were really tough because she really scraped it in his skin.

he wanted me to take a picture so he could see what was going on. poor thing, you can see his tear going down his cheek.

he had to sit like that for 20 minutes for any reactions. he was biting his shirt because he wanted to scratch. go figure, i couldn't get good reception on my phone to pull up some videos.

i hate food allergies. he is allergic to tree nuts, the biggest is cashews. he's also allergic to fish and shellfish.

my poor babe. it's kind of a blessing in disguise that he's such a picky eater.
