My mom has been in heaven for 19 years now. Time flies and so much has changed. Roel and I have learned so much about life since then. We hope to teach our kids everything our parents taught us.

Homework fun
Micah: can you help me with my math homework?
Me: ok, what does it say?
Micah: write an array.
Me: ok write one, I don't know what that is.
Micah: you don't know what an array is?!!
Me: no, I don't go to school!
This is how homework is with common core. It's great!

Micah's awards
What a big day for this boy! He doesn't like homework and will get it done as fast as he can. He is sad when any break or weekend is over and it's time to go back to school. He gets in trouble for talking in class. Yet he managed this. Proud of him!
And perfect attendance for the entire year is really hard to achieve for a child with asthma. Hopefully he's growing out of it.
Now he'll be asking me to buy him something. Sorry, I don't buy gifts for awards, that's Roel's department.

Micah's first run
Micah always wants to go for a walk/run with me, but he doesn't want to do a 5K (besides disneyland). So I signed him up for the Kids 1K for the EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Warrior Foundation. Perfect for Memorial Day remembrance.
He loved it. He got to control 3 bomb robots, use a working medal detector, and look at lots of bomb gear. And he gunned the run. I asked him why he never goes that fast when we run/walk together. He said he was excited for this one. So I guess we'll be doing this one next year.

She's a lady
When we got home from the beach, Malia called me to the bathroom. Sure enough, she had started her period. She didn't freak out, probably because some of her friends had it already and they have talked about it. She's also asked me a whole bunch of questions about it already.
Of course, when Malia called me to the bathroom, my nosey son came running in front of me to find out what was going on. He was concerned because he saw her, but I had to vaguely explain to him that she was ok.
We had lessons on pads and more talks. She thought it would only come once a year. If only we could be so lucky.
I knew Roel was a little sad. He told her she was still his little girl. Then he told me it was sad for him and Micah, they would have to deal with both of our hormones. Lol.

Imperial beach for Alina's birthday
Anyone that knows me well, knows that I hate sand. So, I'm not really a fan of the beach. Of course, I think the scenery is beautiful to look at, but I just don't like dealing with sand. It gets everywhere! But now I have my baby powder to ease some of my worries. Sprinkle that stuff on their feet and the sand comes off. Thank you to the makers of baby powder!!!
So anyways, the reason for this post...Micah was invited to his friend Alina's birthday party at Imperial Beach. He's known her since Kinder. She and her family are super sweet. He really wanted to go and begged me to take him. Roel couldn't take them because he had homework. So that left me taking them, I was ecstatic.
As always, the kids had a blast playing in the sand. Then they asked me to take them near the water so they could get their feet wet. But there were millions of little blue things along the shore. I looked it up on my phone. Apparently, every 3-6 years, millions of blue jellyfish called Vellela, wash up on the west coast while trying to eat plankton. The white clear thing acts like a sail. They instantly die, but the rule is not to touch them because the chemicals on them can still affect people with sensitive skin. Interesting.
We were there for 4 hours. I took a nap when we got home.

6th grade luau
Malia with BFF Sammy for the 6th grade luau. It was supposed to be last Friday, but the rain came, so thank goodness the sun was out today. She graduates in 2 weeks. Why is she growing up?!
She had fun, said they played human fooseball. She bought Micah bubbles from inside. It's so sweet how she always thinks of him when she goes somewhere without him.
